Gregory L. Koeller

Greg has a unique set of experience that makes him a strategic intellectual property professional in demand by all types of businesses. Greg has spent the last 8 years as in-house counsel with American Medical Systems and Stratasys, Inc., working closely with engineers and business leaders to find innovative solutions that assisted the companies in improving their market positions.  Greg’s in-house experience included:

  • Managing large international patent and trademark portfolios

  • Mergers, acquisitions and divestitures

  • Litigation

  • Trademarks

  • Copyrights

  • Freedom to Operate/Non-infringement Opinions

  • Complex agreements, including:

    • licensing,

Greg’s time as in-house counsel makes him uniquely qualified to provide legal services that balances business and legal needs,  do so with the understanding of corporate structures and budgets. 

Prior to working in-house, Greg was an intellectual property attorney with Moss & Barnett, a large general practice law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota.   Greg’s practice focused on prosecuting business method, medical device,  mechanical and software patent applications, trademarks, trademark oppositions and copyrights.  

Early in his career, Greg was of-counsel with the IP boutique law firm of Patterson, Thuente, Skaar and Christensen, where his practice focused on prosecuting medical device, mechanical and software patent applications. During this time Greg was also the sole owner of Koeller Law Office, where he primarily provided clients with patent and trademark prosecution services.

Recognition

Prior to going in-house Greg was recognized as a Rising Star for 2007 and 2008.  Only 2.5 percent of Minnesota attorneys are selected as Rising Stars.
